*Practical* Keyblades

I don't care about realism in Kingdom Hearts, that train has long lost the station and there are much bigger problems in the series, in my opinion.
I actually like the idea of the design of the keyblade, that it is symbolic for the adventures you had in a world. But as a result most designs are just some things lumped together so that they fit the shape of a key.

Yes, I have designed some ridiculous keyblades and am in no position to judge practicality. But these were supposed to be symbolic of whatever backstory I had in mind for them, that part was the only thing that interested me about the keyblade.


However, "keyblade" is a misused term. The things aren't swords, they aren't bladed weapons at all. Neither are they used like them.
So after watching Skallagrim's video(which taught me even more things that were ridiculous about the kingdom key, thanks very much) I felt like making "real swords" based on the designs for canon keyblades.

I am not pretending that they are in anyway practical swords, neither that the drawings are good. Well, they're probably more useful than their KH counterpart.


The design was based on my longsword template, which look suspiciously similar to my claymore template when I drew it.


1 Two Become One
One edge.
Definitely the most impractical one. Of course removing what was the key part in the original would increase the cutting power, but I wanted to keep the shape of the edge.

2 Soul Eater
One edge.
Needed the least amount of work, drawing wise. The whole wing is supposed to be an edged piece of metal with the "bones" of it being merely visual, painted, engraved or something.


3 Kingdom Key
The first one I did, it's supposed to be one edged. You could make the blade symmetrical and make the key part just visual, but I like it as an saber.

4 Stormfall
Totally thought this was Aqua's starting weapon, oops. It's two-edged, probably the most useful one though guard + pummel just have to much material.
Eraqus' keyblade would look similar.
Out of the six, my weapon of choice. But then, I just prefer the longsword look overall.

5 Ends of the Earth
Again, thought it was his starter weapon. The knuckle guard ended up more massive than I intended, think I was to focused on my reference picture.

6 Wayward Wind
Same issues with the knuckle guard as five.
